Joan made history as the first woman to be featured on the cover of BUILDER Magazine, and she continues to break barriers as a respected leader in the field of condominium and HOA management.
Joan is also the national bestselling author of Unstoppable HOA Business Success, a must-read guide for community managers and board members who want to elevate their associations and lead with confidence. Her book reflects the same principles she has used to build one of the longest-running condominium management companies in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Starting her entrepreneurial journey at just 19 years old, Joan identified unmet needs in the property management space and set out to solve them. Her first major innovation — a centralized credit check system for prospective renters — revolutionized the rental process and improved cash flow for landlords, a practice now widely adopted across the industry.
Armed with a degree in education from the University of Maryland, College Park, Joan quickly became known for her insight, creativity, and ability to execute. Even as one of the few women serving on professional association councils and boards, she earned respect for her leadership and forward-thinking approach.
Today, Joan serves as a national consultant and expert witness in high-profile property management cases, sits on several nonprofit boards, and is a driving force for women’s entrepreneurship and empowerment.
